Restaurant

Our restaurant is a gathering place for lovers of Mediterranean cuisine and authentic flavors. In a space that celebrates the Mediterranean way of life and the importance of local ingredients, we regularly host culinary workshops, educational tastings, and lunches for our visitors. Learning, sharing, and enjoying food – in the true Dalmatian way.

Tavern

The Stella Croatica Tavern holds a special place in our offering, located in an authentic Dalmatian setting within our Ethno Village. The tavern hosts cooking workshops and collard green (raštika) sessions. It is not intended for regular lunch service, but can be the perfect venue for your special moments.

A Culinary Story of Heritage and Flavors

Our dishes are prepared by local women – cooks who prepare meals for visitors with the same care and love they put into meals for their own families. This gives you the chance to taste food made by true guardians of Dalmatian heritage, who cherish a simple cuisine rooted in the rhythm of the seasons, natural ingredients, and the traditions of our ancestors. From modest yet high-quality ingredients, they create dishes that nourish both body and soul.

Our kitchen does not follow the classic restaurant approach – it is a natural continuation of the story visitors experience while touring the complex: a story of plants, spices, olives, and people who have lived in harmony with this land for centuries. That is why the restaurant is an integral part of the overall experience and is open exclusively to visitors.

An Authentic Story from the Dalmatian Hinterland

Agricultural Garden

From garden to plate – follow how fresh produce from our agricultural garden becomes part of every dish. We select seasonal ingredients grown through sustainable farming in cooperation with local partners.

In five carefully curated display plots, we grow traditional crops that nourished generations in this region.

What grows in our garden?

  • Cabbage and leafy greens – the foundation of diets in the Dalmatian hinterland
  • Garlic and onions – regionally prized for their strong flavor and aroma
  • Aromatic herbs: thyme, sage, savory, oregano, basil, marjoram
  • Collard green – the queen of the garden, from which we make our own pesto

From soil to table, everything grown in this garden is used in our restaurant’s dishes, promoting local gastronomy, sustainability, and agritourism in Dalmatia.

Our garden is open to all visitors. It’s perfect for family outings, educational trips for children, and anyone interested in the agricultural heritage of Split and its surroundings.

Stella Croatica proudly participates in the Local2Local project – an initiative that connects local producers and hospitality providers with the goal of increasing visibility of rural areas through authentic gastronomy. The project promotes the use of local ingredients and traditional recipes in the spirit of sustainability, community, and heritage.

Through our Gastronomic Heritage Center, we actively contribute to building short supply chains, connecting small producers with end consumers. In collaboration with top chefs, we create dishes from local ingredients that reflect the spirit and flavor of our region. This enables small producers to place their products on the market, while offering our guests a truly local culinary experience.

With culinary masterclasses and educational programs, the project encourages knowledge exchange and networking among participants through joint events, guest visits, and collaborations. For us, Local2Local is not just a project – it’s a continuation of our mission to preserve and live the local story through food, people, and place.
