Visit Stella Croatica and Klis Fortress
Klis Fortress is one of the most impressive historical monuments in Croatia, located above the town of Klis, about 15 kilometers northeast of Split. If you plan to visit Dalmatia, this fortress is a must-see destination.
Ticket Prices
In cooperation with the Municipality of Klis, we offer a combined ticket that allows you to visit two attractions – Klis Fortress and Stella Croatica – for a single price. This blend of culture and gastronomy is an ideal excursion for both groups and individual guests.

- Organized groups and agency guests: €8
Tickets can be purchased at either location and are valid from April 1 to October 31, with the option to visit on separate days.

Shuttle van: on request
Starting in 2025, a free shuttle service operates between Stella Croatica and Klis Fortress. Ideal for guests without their own transport or with limited mobility. Departures are available during museum hours upon visitor request.
Stronger together: promoting the Klis destination
Stella Croatica and Klis Fortress have jointly represented the region for years at leading European fairs (WTM London, ITB Berlin), printed promotional materials, and advertised on tourist buses departing from Split – making Klis an essential destination in Dalmatia.

Rich History
Klis Fortress has over 2000 years of history – from Illyrian and Roman times, through the medieval Croatian kingdom, to the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Venice. It played a key role in the defense of Dalmatia.

Perched on a steep rock, the fortress offers a spectacular panoramic view of Split, Kaštela Bay, and the islands of Brač, Hvar, and Šolta.
Game of Thrones Location
Klis Fortress is also known among fans of the Game of Thrones series, where it represented the city of Meereen. Many visitors come for the series and stay for the real history.
Authentic Experience
Walking through the fortress gives a sense of stepping back in time – with preserved walls, towers, weapons, and costumes making it an open-air museum.
Cultural and Musical Events
During summer, medieval reenactments, concerts, and performances often take place in this authentic setting.

Klis Fortress is situated on a hill above the village of Klis, about 20 minutes by car from Split, accessible also by local bus or bicycle for the more adventurous.
It is 2.5 km from Stella Croatica.
A visit to the fortress is included with the purchase of a ticket to the Stella Croatica estate.
